Flower containers of gipertufa do it yourself

We tell how to quickly and simply make pots of gipertufa with their own hands. Such containers will fit into any landscape design!

A hypertuff is an interesting material that can be made independently and for modest money. It looks like a natural stone, malleable and will perfectly fit into the most diverse styles of the garden: in minimalistic and cottage English.

It is easy to make pots, flowerpots and flower containers out of hypertuffs with your own hands. Even a child will cope with this simple project.

Step 1. We collect the necessary materials

To complete this project you will need:

  • capacity for the preparation of the mixture;
  • various shapes (plastic bowls of unusual shapes can be used, bakeware, pots, pots, etc.);
  • rubber gloves;
  • plastic bags or cling film;
  • sieve or net;
  • Portland cement;
  • dried crushed sphagnum;
  • fiberglass (optional);
  • vermiculite or perlite;
  • water.

Do not forget that you should work with portland cement with gloves, and when it comes into contact with the skin - immediately rinse thoroughly with water.

Step 2. Preparing the hypertoof

There are various ways to make a hypertouch. Here is one of the proven mixture recipes:

  • 1 part of portland cement,
  • 1.5 parts of sphagnum,
  • 1.5 parts of vermiculite or perlite,
  • 1.5-2 parts of water.

An important nuance - for the manufacture of a hypertube, only Portland interest is used. Other types of cement for this mixture are not suitable.

All ingredients are mixed in a dry form, pre-sifting or mashing all the lumps. Only after that add water.

Of course, we have indicated approximate proportions. So, water is added to the eye - to the desired consistency. The mixture should be sufficiently hard, but plastic, like a thick dough or soft clay.

Squeeze a handful of the mixture in your palm. If the lump did not crumble, and only a small amount of liquid came out, it means that all the proportions are met correctly.

If you live in a climate where there is a lot of rain in the warm season and frost in winter, it is undesirable to add moss. It absorbs a large amount of moisture, which can cause the container to crack during the winter.

An alternative recipe for the hypertoop: mix Portland cement, perlite and vermiculite in equal parts, add water and for reliability put a small amount of fiberglass as a reinforcement of concrete mix.

Step 3. We form the container

Now it's time to turn the hypertoop into a flower container.

First of all, select the shape you like and cover it with a plastic bag so as not to stain the surface with the mixture.

Carefully place the hypertube in a container with your hands and give it the desired shape.

At the bottom of the pot make several drainage holes.

Do not worry about jagged edges and other defects. They only add charm to products from hypertuffs. By the way, while the container is not hardened, it's time to decorate it with pebbles, shells, or give it an unusual texture using a metal brush or emery paper.

Step 4. Leave to dry

After all the pots are fashioned, they must be put in a dry place for 2 days for 2 days. This time should be enough for the composition to completely harden.

Containers of gipertufa can "live" in your garden for more than 10 years. If you are worried that they can crack from the winter frosts, you can make pots in the cold months.

Step 5. Plant the plants

As soon as the pots from the hypertoop are ready for use, you can fill them with soil and plant the plants.

Succulents, compact ground cover and ampelous plants are best placed in such containers.

Done! It remains to find such a spectacular decoration worthy place in the garden.
