Making a decorative garden: tips and illustrations

The times when the garden served only one purpose - to feed a large family - are becoming a thing of the past. Now, neat and small beds can carry only a decorative function and please the hosts and guests with their neatness and tidiness.

The modern landscape design of the suburban area suggests the competent organization of the location of architectural buildings, green spaces and decorative elements. Despite the fact that most people want to organize an oasis for recreation at their dacha, many do not forget about the location of the vegetable garden and fruit garden, which must also fit into the landscape of the plot.

When designing beds on the site, you must follow the following rules:

  • the garden is located in a well-lit place;
  • the greenhouse on the site should be facing the long side to the south, so that it gets as much sunlight as possible;
  • fruit trees and shrubs are best planted on the north-west side of the plot, so that they do not shade the beds and the greenhouse.

There are several techniques that allow you to arrange the beds on the site more profitable and beautifully arrange them according to the basic style in the design.

The garden may be a separate element in the structure of the garden and represent the surface of the earth, which is dug up every year, organizing the beds for vegetable crops. Such a vegetable garden is usually separated from the main part of the site with the help of a hedge or a low fence and beautifully decorate the entrance with a pergola with climbing plants. It turns out that the garden looks like a separate "room" on the site. Greenhouses, inventory shed, fruit trees and bushes can be located in this area.

In the same garden, separated from the main plot, it is possible to organize a recreation area with flower beds, a bench, paths. Here it will be pleasant to take a break from troublesome works.

If the site is divided by retaining walls, the area of the beds can be located on a separate level and can be represented as beds and paths raised above the ground with a hard surface between them. The beds can be made of wooden boards, treated with antiseptic and paint on wood for exterior work, as well as decking, brick or concrete. The cover for the paths can be plates of natural stones, fine crushed stone, or a combination of fine crushed stone with stone slabs or boards. In this area of the garden is better to separate the fence of ornamental shrubs.

The beds can be not only rectangular in shape, as they usually do. For greater attractiveness, you can make them in the form of semicircles, arrange flower gardens and decorative bushes along the edges, so that such a garden fits into the garden design and is an integral part of it.

In some cases, the garden may even become the main element of the plot. The main thing is to give it an interesting shape, for example, the shape of a circle, in the center of which there is a greenhouse. Moreover, part of the garden is decorated with ornamental shrubs and a lawn, and in the other part there are raised beds.

Garden beds can be arranged as raised flower beds, some of which are worth planting flowers, and others - vegetables and berries. Such a "garden" will be completely invisible on the site. Especially if you arrange such beds near the gazebo or terrace.

Focusing on the methods that we have listed, you will be able to organize on your site an interesting and comfortable garden that will look very harmonious and become an independent element of landscape design.
