How to build a cone-shaped hanging containers for plants? You will not believe, but very simple. Just read our master class.
What is needed?
- Polymer molding clay;
- galvanized mesh (to impart a "wafer" pattern);
- jute splits;
Before you proceed to the process of manufacturing pots, be sure to read the instructions on the packaging of polymer clay. Familiarize yourself with how to work with the material and find out at what temperature the product will need to be dried in the oven.
Cut the clay into small layers and knead them on a smooth surface until they are soft.
When the polymer clay has become soft, you can already work with it. Roll it on a non-porous surface into "pancakes". Their number depends on how many horns you want to make. From one preparation 4 cones turn out. Do not roll the clay too thin, otherwise it will be difficult to make a drawing on it. Since this is handmade, it is not necessary to do everything neatly and accurately. Small negligence such products only decorate.
Cut a large circle out of aluminum foil and use it as a template for making a cone blank. Circle with a knife and remove excess polymer clay.
Take a galvanized net and cut a small piece from it. It is desirable that the grid segment completely covers your polymer clay blank. Then the drawing will be smooth and neat.
Attach the mesh to a circle made of polymer clay and go over it with a rolling pin to evenly “drown” it into the clay. Do not be afraid to use force: the grid pattern should be well imprinted on the workpiece. But be careful, do not overdo it, otherwise just divide the clay into small squares.
Take a circle of foil and cut it into 4 equal parts.
Attach metal blanks to polymer clay and in the same way divide the circle into 4 parts.
Roll each triangle into a cone. The easiest way to do this with the help of pieces of foil. Aluminum triangles should be inside the horns. They are needed so that the polymer clay keeps its shape and does not deform during drying in the oven. In the widest part of the horn, do not forget to make 2 holes opposite each other - in them you will pass the splits.
Joints on the cone press your finger, as they do with the usual dough. At the very bottom of the horn, leave a hole for water flow.
Put the cones on a baking sheet upside down and send to the oven. Time and temperature of drying, check on the packaging of polymer clay. Usually products with a thickness of 6 mm are dried for 15 minutes at a temperature of 130 ° C.
Remove the cones from the oven and cover them with a towel. This will help prevent cracking of polymer clay during cooling. After that, remove the foil and tie the twine to the horns.
Planted flowers of your choice in polymer clay horns.
And the last thing to do is water the plants and hang the cones in a prominent place.
Look at how beautiful the beauty is! Even if these cones are not frozen, so necessary for all of us in the hot season.
